Grotesque Beauty Typeface

About the project

Grotesque Beauty is an original typeface I designed, inspired by the art of contortion and the human form. As part of the creative process, I did a lot of research on yoga, gymnastics, ballet, and modern dance in order to understand and encapsulate the unimaginable beauty that can be found within the shapes and contours of the human body.

The first iteration of the project was completed in 2010 with watercolor pencils, but I am currently working on a second, hand-drawn version of the typeface, aiming to represent a complete set of the alphabetical characters.
